DOCUMENTO Y EMOCION / DOCUMENT AND EMOTION

En fotografía, se diría que documento y emoción son términos poco menos que irreconciliables. Se da por supuesto que el fotógrafo necesita cobrar una distancia emocional que lleve el documento a su frontera menos próxima a lo personal. Claro que todo ello parte de la aceptación de que tanto lo documental como lo emocional tienen solo una dimensión, y eso no tiene por qué ser así. Se manejan los términos en fotografía, como en tantas otras cosas, reduciendo su riqueza y la diversidad de opciones que representan.

La emoción, como lo poético, son inherentes a la propia fotografía tanto al menos como lo es su naturaleza originalmente inclinada hacia el documento. Por otro lado, el hecho fotográfico constituye un proceso en el que, al dividir y separar sus fases, más se pierde que se gana. De qué modo inciden lo documental y lo emocional en ese todo que es el proceso fotográfico, constituye el eje central de esta charla. Interesa saber, desde cada planteamiento individual, de qué manera emoción y documento se separan o se unen en cada imagen y en cada trabajo.

In photography, one would say that document and emotion are terms less than irreconcilable. It is assumed that a photographer needs to charge an emotional distance that takes the document to its border less close to the personal. Of course, all of this is based on the acceptance that both the documentary and the emotional have only one dimension, and that does not have to be that way. The terms in photography are handled, as in so many other things, reducing their wealth and the diversity of options they represent.

Emotion, like the poetic, are inherent in photography at least as is its nature originally inclined towards the document. On the other hand, the photographic fact constitutes a process in which, by dividing and separating its phases, more is lost than is gained. In what way do the documentary and the emotional influence in that whole that is the photographic process, constitutes the central axis of this talk. It is interesting to know, from each individual approach, how they are separated or united in each image and in each work.
