DAR LUZ AL DOLOR / GIVING LIGHT TO PAIN

The project «Giving light to pain», a meeting between art and mourning, aims to put death and pain in the public space, in our day to day. Normalize and accept the presence of pain. Include it, show it, give us permission to walk it and feel it through artistic expression.

Carlos Cánovas shows a serene aspect of pain. In his series «Aching Plants», plants «humanly» suffer the fate assigned to them by our civilization. Those plants transmit a pain of somber presence that moves the photographer. The world is chaotic, but his camera photographs it with a poetic balance, that balance that stops at the right point where pleasure and pain are confused, that balance where «the beautiful is the beginning of the terrible that we can still bear.» (From the exhibition catalog).
