La exposición Ficcionar el presente. Adquisiciones de arte contemporáneo del Museo de Navarra 2021-24, ha sido comisariada por Javier Balda, y reúne obras, recientemente adquiridas, de una veintena de autores que van desde el ámbito local al internacional, y que integran trayectorias consolidadas con otras en desarrollo. 

El proyecto expositivo “desarrolla la idea de ficción como una estrategia para reinventar, transformar la realidad y dotarla de un nuevo sentido”. Los artistas participantes “crean ficciones en sus obras para interrogar el presente y, mediante lenguajes formales y conceptuales, expresar situaciones individuales y colectivas”. Las obras que forman parte de la exposición reflejan algunas características del arte en el actual contexto social y cultural de Navarra.

Las dos fotografías de Carlos Cánovas incluidas en la exposición fueron adquiridas por el Museo de Navarra en el año 2021, mediante adquisición y donación respectivamente, y pertenecen a la serie Naturaleza y control, serie que comenzó a desarrollar a partir de 2017.

The exhibition Fictionalizing the Present. Contemporary Art Acquisitions of the Museum of Navarra 2021-24 has been curated by Javier Balda, and brings together recently acquired works by some twenty authors ranging from the local to the international sphere, and which integrate consolidated careers with others in development.

The exhibition project “explores the idea of ​​fiction as a strategy to reinvent and transform reality, imbuing it with new meaning.” The participating artists “create fictions in their works to question the present and, through formal and conceptual languages, express individual and collective situations.” The works that are part of the exhibition reflect some characteristics of actual art in the social and cultural context of Navarre.

The two photographs by Carlos Cánovas included in the exhibition were acquired by the Museum of Navarra in 2021, through acquisition and donation respectively, and are part of the series Nature and Control, a series that he began to develop from 2017.
