VIAJE AL CUERPO / JOURNEY TO THE BODY

“Viaje al cuerpo” es un recorrido visual por la historia de la fotografía en su relación con el cuerpo humano, desde sus inicios hasta hoy. Las imágenes que se comentan han sido agrupadas “vectorialmente”, siguiendo las diferentes direcciones que la historia del medio fotográfico ha ido registrando a lo largo del tiempo.

El modo en que esos vectores se acercan y se alejan entre si, determina recorridos en los que puede apreciarse la naturaleza ética y estética, técnica, social y política del tratamiento que la fotografía ha dispensado al cuerpo. Reconocer esos vectores es tal vez más útil que incidir exclusivamente de nuevo en los grandes nombres o en los reconocibles iconos que están en la mente de cualquier fotógrafo, y ello sin cerrar verdades incuestionables ni emitir juicios categóricos.

«Journey to the body» is a visual journey through the history of photography in its relationship with the human body, from its beginnings until today. The images that are commented have been grouped «vectorially», following the different directions that the history of photographic medium has been registering throughout the time.

The way in which these vectors approach and move away from each other determines paths in which the ethical and aesthetic, technical, social and political nature of the treatment that photography has dispensed to the body can be appreciated. Recognizing these vectors is perhaps more useful than relying exclusively on the big names or the recognizable icons that are in the minds of any photographer, and doing so without closing unquestionable truths or issuing categorical judgments.
