ENTRE LUCES / BETWEEN LIGHTS

«La presencia de lo que han sido sus orígenes llega de un modo inconsciente e impreciso a toda la obra de un artista» (Rafael Moneo).

Con el argumento de la luz como eje he recorrido buena parte de la geografía española, para ver y sentir una serie de construcciones de Rafael Moneo. La propuesta de este trabajo de recoger en una imagen alguna esencia de esas obras del arquitecto navarro es, como poco, pretenciosa. Sabía desde el principio que implicaba un reto que podría ponerme en evidencia.

No soy un especialista en arquitectura. Por eso, me pareció lo más natural dejarme llevar por las sensaciones, algo tan propio de la condición de fotógrafo, en cada uno de los lugares visitados. Hubiese sido un disparate renunciar a ellas. Por otra parte, me resultó muy confortable la idea de que la luz fuese el nexo que pudiera unir el trabajo del arquitecto y el del fotógrafo, un nexo que sitúa nuestra respectiva labor más cerca de lo que podría parecer (Carlos Cánovas, del texto de presentación).

With the argument of the light as axis I have traveled a good part of the Spanish geography, to see and feel a series of constructions by Rafael Moneo. The proposal of this work to collect in an image some essence of those works of the Navarrese architect is, at least, pretentious. I knew from the beginning that it implied a challenge that could put me in evidence.

I am not an architecture specialist. Therefore, it seemed most natural to let myself be carried away by sensations, something so characteristic of the status of photographer, in every place visited. It would have been silly to give up on them. On the other hand, I was very comfortable with the idea that light was the link that could unite the work of the architect and that of the photographer, a link that puts our respective work closer to what it might seem (Carlos Cánovas, from the catalog text).
