IDENTIDADES CONTEMPORÁNEAS, GESTOS INVISIBLES / CONTEMPORARY IDENTITIES, INVISIBLE GESTURES

La exposición «Identidades contemporáneas / Gestos invisibles» es una reflexión artística sobre una preocupación moderna. Se trata de despertar la conciencia sobre las repercusiones de la tecnología en el individuo. Por una parte, presenta identidades que son construidas desde el miedo al anonimato dentro del ciberespacio, confundidas entre la exposición virtual constante y el aislamiento físico. Pero, al mismo tiempo, estos trabajos contemporáneos conservan una especie de fe en la capacidad de la fotografía para captar aspectos de la experiencia subjetiva y la búsqueda de la auto-comprensión.

En tanto que parte de un mundo virtual, debemos recordar el valor de la diversidad que se encuentra en la población de nuestros países. La singularidad de cada nación iberoamericana inspira la exposición para reflejar la importancia que tiene la búsqueda de las raíces íntimas y personales de nuestras identidades. La exposición muestra los valores culturales de Iberoamérica y la inmensa diversidad que representa la esencia de sus países. Identidades Contemporáneas / Gestos invisibles exhibe la diversidad cultural de Iberoamérica a través del arte de la fotografía. La exposición, con obras de artistas de 18 países de América Latina, Portugal y España, se centra en la relación entre la identidad y el yo en un mundo digital.

The exhibition “Contemporary Identities: Invisible Gestures” is an artistic reflection on a modern concern. It attempts to awaken a unified yet personal awareness of the repercussions of technology on the individual. On the one hand, it presents identities that are constructed from fear of anonymity within cyberspace, confused between being constantly exposed virtually, while being physically isolated. Yet at the same time, these contemporary works retain a kind of faith in the ability of a photographic portrait to capture aspects of the subjective experience and search for self understanding.

As we are part of a virtual world, we must remember the value of the diversity found in the people of our countries. The uniqueness of each Iberoamerican nation inspires the exhibition to reflect the importance of the individual’s search for the intimate and personal roots of our identities. An exhibition showcasing the cultural values of Iberoamerica and the immense diversity that depicts the essence of its countries. Contemporary Identities / Invisible Gestures showcases the cultural diversity of Iberoamerica through the art of photography. The exhibition, featuring work from artists from 18 countries of Latin America, Portugal and Spain, centers on the relationship between identity and the self in a digital world.
